How You Can Save Money on Printer Stands
Printer stands are becoming increasingly popular among modern computer users. Desk and computers are becoming smaller, but printers are inherently limited by the fact that they must be big enough to hold paper and machinery to put that ink onto that paper. As such, they generally need to be moved aside, or placed nearer to eye level in order to make the most of available desk space. These printer stands are also excellent for storing replacement ink cartridges and extra paper, which is necessary for proper printer function.
There are two types of desktop printer stand: those that merely sit beneath the printer, and those that radically change the printer's location. The former desktop printer stand is much more common, and is often even included in package deals with printers at some outlets. These smaller stands tend to be between four and eight inches tall and are designed to have lots of storage space for printer paper and ink. They generally have an assortment of shelves and are designed to fit specific printer sizes. The idea behind this form of printer stand is to make as much use of the limited desk space as possible by allowing the area beneath the printer to be used for storage. As such, when selecting one, it’s best to find one that offers the storage capabilities closest to your needs. Some have build-in inboxes and outboxes; others have small compartments for cables or ink cartridges. Almost all have space for storage of extra printer paper.
The second type is designed to make the most of limited space by putting the printer far above the desk space, generally above the computer and monitor. These stands are designed to be high above the desktop and generally have long supports or pillars to hold them up, which are often equipped with storage areas and shelves. These printer stands are inherently more expensive, and must be constructed of strong materials, but may offer additional options in terms of storage. They are also ideal for small desks or other areas where horizontal space is at a premium and there is nowhere to go but up.
